Abstract: | : | In this talk I will begin with a brief look at current trends in the technology scenery and some of the key security challenges that are impacting on business and society. With emerging new technologies and an ever increasing attack surface and the dynamic nature of attacks, together with an evolving set of bad guys with different motives, I will argue that there is a need for security researchers to rethink cyber security strategy. Then I will give a brief overview of the research work being done at the Advanced Cyber Security Research Centre at Macquarie University. In particular I will run through some research projects in cloud computing security, malware, security policies in Big Data environment and security for software defined networks.
